My name's Elisée Maurer and I'm a 23-year-old guy from Strasbourg, France. I love making games and I want everyone to get the chance to experience this wonderful feeling. I started building CraftStudio because the existing tools were complicated, limited or frustrating and not everyone can spend years learning how to master them. I wanted to make a game that would let us make games together...
I started working full-time on CraftStudio back in the summer of 2011 (I can't believe it's been so long already!) and released the first pre-alpha version in early September of the same year. I started pushing new updates on a roughly weekly basis and the community started to grow and gather some attention.
In January 2012, I set up a company named Sparklin Labs to be able to keep working on CraftStudio full-time. With the help of a few friends (including Xael), I then set up a crowdfunding campaign over at Indiegogo both to gauge interest and gather enough money to ensure I could take it further.
The campaign was a success and the very first CraftStudio Alpha build was released on May 31th, 2012.
Matthew joined me for 2 months as an intern to help with some cool new features over the summer and it was a blast.
In November of 2012, together with the CraftStudio.fr crew, we held a booth at Minecon in Paris (Minecraft is an awesome game by the way, and it was a huge inspiration for CraftStudio)
In April 2013, after months of hard work, I released CraftStudio Beta featuring a redesigned user interface, a physics engine, a built-in store and many new features.
CraftStudio is now almost done and I'm very excited to see all the awesome games you'll make with it!
